Our Ingredients

Juice
All the juices we use at Blenders In The Grass are either freshly squeezed at our store or are blended from frozen pure fruit concentrate. We use frozen juice concentrates because they are superior to bottled or boxed juices. This is because frozen juice concentrates retain more of their natural vitamins, color, flavor, and enzymes than juices that are heat pasteurized and then bottled or boxed. All of the blended juices are 100% juice with no added sugars or preservatives

Fruit
Fruit is an excellent source of simple and complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and various vitamins and minerals. At Blenders In The Grass we offer fresh fruit year round. However, to provide our wide selection of smoothies all year, some of our fruit will be frozen. The frozen fruit we use is individually quick frozen (IQF) to help maintain its nutritional value. There are no sugars, preservatives, or other additives added to our fruit.

Frozen Dairy Products
In order to make our smoothies healthy as well as delicious, we choose our frozen dairy products with both taste and health in mind. Non-fat frozen yogurt is low in calories and is a concentrated source of calcium, protein, vitamin D, and some B vitamins. Ice milk provides a creamy taste but is significantly lower in fat content than ice cream (2-5% vs 10-25%). Sherbet, because it is made with non-fat and low-fat milk, provides flavor with a fat content which is only 1.5%.

Frozen Soy Blend
Our proprietary organic Frozen Soy Blend is a non-dairy, Low-fat (2%) hard pack that looks, feels, and tastes like frozen yogurt. It replaces the frozen dairy products in a smoothie when a customer chooses to Go Soy.

Wheatgrass is simply the young grass shoots of the red winter wheatberry. Due to its fibrous nature, wheatgrass is indigestible to humans, which is why we juice the grass.

Wheatgrass contains at least trace amounts of every amino acid, vitamin, and mineral necessary for human nutrition, making it one of the few actual "whole foods." Wheatgrass is so nutrient- rich, in fact, that one ounce of fresh wheatgrass juice is equivalent in nutritional value to 2.5 pounds of vegetables. Ounce for ounce, it has more vitamin C than oranges and twice the vitamin A of carrots. Wheatgrass juice is also 70% chlorophyll, which works to increase the body's resistance to illness and aids in the natural cleansing process. Wheatgrass also contains enzymes which help in the digestion and metabolization of nutrients, and abscisic acid, which is known for its anti-tumor activity. Wheatgrass is quite simply one of the healthiest things you can put in your body. Please see our in-store literature for a comprehensive discussion of the amazing health benefits of wheatgrass.
